At 7ft (211 cm) in length, the Steinway model B grand piano has a very well balanced sound and is the favourite of many musicians. There are a great variety on the second hand market in the UK, the majority being pre 1960s. These vary a lot and usually need extensive restoration. Modern ones from about 1960 are extremely sought after.
