Our comments on this model
At 6′ 2″ (188cm), Most Steinway model A grand pianos in the UK date before 1900 and are what we call “old style” with “Elephant legs” and a pierced music desk. They generally have 85 notes and not 88 as with the modern piano, though this is only important to a very few musicians. Properly restored they can be as responsive as a modern grand and about 80% of them have beautiful rosewood veneer.
Modern Steinway model A pianos are similar to the model O but a little longer and much less common. They are very powerful and need a reasonably high ceiling and sizable room; otherwise the sound can be too overpowering.
