Process: Restringing, soundboard shimming, new pins, new stings & felts
Before Restoration work - assessing the piano. The piano undergoes a thorough examination to make sure it is suitable for restoring. Particular attention is given to see whether the soundboard has kept its shape. If the "crown" is lost, then it is necessary to remove the soundboard and restore or replace it.
The soundboard is sanded and shimmed to repair any cracks before being re-finished.
Soundboard re-finished with humidity resistant varnish. The Bluthner decal is either preserved or replaced.
The Frame is refinished with best quality metal paint and lacquered. New Blüthner blue felts are put in place
The Bluthner is restrung with German Röslau steel wire.
